Here is how Maverick works with sensors and wearables, and what needs a phone or internet connection.
What you need to know
- The glasses always require a connected phone. There is no standalone mode, and using the glasses without a phone is not supported.
- Some features also need an internet connection (through your phone), including AI, object identification, and saving rides. Some content, such as downloaded riding maps, can work without internet, but your phone is still required.
- Garmin and cycling sensors: Maverick Sport connects to Garmin over Bluetooth through your phone, and the data appears in the Maverick riding app. (This is a Maverick Sport feature.)
- Apple Watch and WearOS: the launch product does not connect to an Apple Watch or a WearOS watch.
What you can do next
- Keep your phone paired and within range whenever you use the glasses.
- Riding somewhere you may lose signal? Download your maps ahead of time so they are available offline (your phone is still required).
